MELAINA (2024)

A continuation of my work with the figure in colour, begun in preparation for my Embodiment solo show and completed as part of the Encore collection.

This is a work I love especially for her sense of quiet, ambiguous drama. I love the richness in her reds and the immediate, lively lines in the garment falling around her legs.

Named after a figure from Greek mythology, Melaina is the fluid, sensual spirit of a water sprite, embodied in the 21st century.
