What is "promoted"?
Products from stores on Premium and Pro plans are promoted with Auto-Ads which automatically match products with shoppers’ search terms, and display them as "Promoted" advertisements at the top of search results.
Promoted ads give products more exposure while also being relevant to the search results.
Shoppers can disable ads, if they prefer, without the need for ad blockers, under the account menu.
To get your products to appear as Promoted ads set up a store by adding your URL, or click on the "Claim this Business" if your store has already been added to Shoppo. Or if you don’t have an online store click the create a store link and add your products manually.
What are "Auto-Ads"?
Products are matched with shoppers’ search terms through text-matches in your product title and descriptions. If there are words that don&rsquot;t appear in your products that are related or relavant you can also add words to the hidden meta keywords field for your products.
Product ads that are clicked on may appear more often, conversely product ads that are not clicked on my appear less often if they are algorithmically determined to not be relavent to some search terms.
You can also set the status of products to "Promoted" for higher priority.
Searches with no search terms
Searches with no search terms will sometimes display Promoted ads from the existing ads cache - that just means that any ads previously displayed will be shown in a somewhat random order (there is some allocation ranking usine the ads algorithm including metrics like clicks, views etc.)
This includes searches like "all" or "sale".

How long are ads show for?
Ads are typically generated then cached for a 24 hour cycle, which helps to minimise the load times. This may mean that a search term no previously recorded will generate a new set of ads to display, usually that means the "all" ads are shown first then the next time the search is entered the ads will be retreived from the ads cache. So if you are entering unusual search terms to see what ads will show, the first time may show the "all" ads.
How can I get my products to appear under Promoted Ads?
You will need to sign up for a Premium or Pro plan and list your store or add your products. Typically ads will start appearing within 12 hours.
You don’t need to do anything more because Promoted ads are automatically generated for you.
If you are wanting your products to appear under specific search terms just ensure the words (in any order) appear in the product name, summary or description fields. You can also include synonyms, alternate spellings and mis-spellings in your meta keywords tags - this is a hidden field that is not shown on your product listing pages but is used when Auto-Ads are compiled. Meta keywords is not used for search results ranking or any other purpose.
